How to Survive Your Final Year of Uni
By Student Cribs | February 28, 2019
It’s all fun and games until you’re in the final leg of your university race and you have more assignments than you do fingers. All those hours spent watching The Chase at 3pm instead of researching your dissertation topic will feel like the difference between a 2:2 and a 2:1. But you’ve done the hard mileage, here are some handy tips for crossing that finish line.
1. Don’t Panic
It might seem like a simple one, but wasting time panicking is pointless. Take a deep breath, listen to the Blue Planet soundtrack on Spotify and power on. Make lists, set reminders and alarms, the panic will subside. Unpopular opinion: nothing wrong with a short cry to release tension, emotion and anger.
2. Don’t Compare
Sure Sophie landed the grad scheme of her dreams in September. Maybe Daniel has got a job at a startup straight out of uni. Comparing yourself to other people is a waste of your valuable working time. Everything will eventually fall into place (I do realise how unhelpful this is but you have to trust me).
3. Organisation is key
What better excuse to buy new stationary??? Colours, folders, highlighters the limit does not exist. Spice up your revision with some funky new notecards. Plan out your workload and stick to the schedule. Slow and steady wins the race.
Due to previously mentioned grad job pressure, sometimes you can find yourself focusing on what you’re going to do after graduation instead of what you NEED to do to graduate. Make sure you’re on top of all your uni assignments before opening that tab for LinkedIn.
5. Try and Enjoy it
These are your last few months of university, you’re unlikely to live around the corner from your ten closest friends again in your life. Take some time out of the library and out of your room to tick everything off your uni bucket list.
If all else fails, look up stressed exam memes, so even when you’re crying into your practice papers you can have a small quiet giggle. Good luck, you can do it!
