The Student Cribs Placemaking Competition:
– £1,000 Cash Prize To Best Design

Student Cribs are looking for driven young artists and designers to propose placemaking design ideas for some of our student accommodation blocks. We want to give an aspiring artist the opportunity to develop their portfolio and the possibility to have your ideas implemented in our Cribs. In return the winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of £1,000. Additionally, subject to the quality of the design, the winner may have the opportunity to have some or all of their design implemented in our Cribs and work (on a paid basis) with the Student Cribs Development team (upon mutual agreement*) to implement your proposal.

About Student Cribs
Design Brief:
We are looking for design proposals to enhance the communal areas in several of our blocks of flats. This refers to the space inside the blocks and between the flats (e.g., hallways and stairwells).
We are looking for light and cosmetic refurbishments only (e.g., feature walls, mirrors, artwork, lighting, flooring etc. and external building décor).
Please note no major works or structural changes are to be made.
Submissions should be no more than 5 slides/pages.
You can present your proposal in any way you wish- this could be a mood board, sketches, graphic designs etc.
Creativity Is Welcomed!
Student Cribs wants to encourage designers and artists to be as creative as they want to be! To us, there is no idea too silly or wacky!
You can view previous examples of Student Cribs refurbs here, and photos of our Cribs on our website to gain a better understanding of Student Cribs design schemes. However, originality and individuality is welcomed in your design ideas!

You can choose to submit proposals for one (or more) of these blocks.
You are welcome to visit these locations to see the space in person before working on your design proposal.
However, this is not essential, and you can view images of the spaces here.
Submission Instructions & Deadlines
To enter the competition, please submit your design proposal by May 27th 2022 at 17:00 BST via a file upload on the application form.
The winner will be selected by the Student Cribs Management Team and will be contacted before the end of June 2022.
